I must have gone to the Party Kingdom Hall. We were doing things with others every weekend: skiing, clubbing, swim parties, slumber parties, etc. Not just our congregation, but maybe four or five surrounding congregations! The whole time I was growing up our Hall got together in the park for picnics and softball games, etc. My Grandmother's hall got together at someone's house after every Sunday meeting for softball and food. Guess I was lucky that way. Of course, that was the late 70's, early 80's and I was out in around 81.

JW's and Others Take Heed - Child Abuse is Masked Behind Respectability
by flipper init's well been stated before when a pedophile has been found out molesting someone's child that friends and family can't believe how the allegedly "joe the respectable " friend , father, pastor, elder or ms , could possibly be molesting a child !
2 cases in point here in the sacramento, california area .
the first case a stepfather just committed murder-suicide on himself, his wife, and 2 small children .

On the Tracy case.
I recalled reading that one neighbor, or friend, of the couple's had been at their house and noticed that they were extremely harsh on the boy, and also hit him with a board or stick in front of them. They just recall thinking that that was abuse, but didn't call the police. Grrr... Some of the neglect stems from people who KNOW about the abuse, yet don't want to get involved. That makes me almost as angry as with the abusers.

Are the Mormons a cult?
by JimmyPage inlooking at jw videos on youtube the mormons are also portrayed as a cult.
i know they have some unusual beliefs, but are they a cult?
and if so, are they as much a high control group as the jw's are?

Their temples are full of Masonic symbolism.
Their strict rules oppress women and children and subjugate them to lives of servitude to the men in the family.
The sects that break off because the mainstream Mormon church has denounced polygamy, practice abject slavery in regards to their wives and children.
Girls are married extremely young to old men, sometimes their uncles, cousins, and sometimes brothers, in these break-off cults.
These sects are also considered Mormons, still practicing the original law of polygamy. One break-off group, the Kingston family, believes that the females in their polygamous sect should only marry within the family to preserve the sect's "true bloodlines" so they have tons of kids born with extreme disability.
There is lots of in-fighting and bloodshed among these groups. Some go so far as to believe in "blood atonement" literally. This concept means:
In Mormonism, blood atonement is the controversial concept that there are certain sins to which the atonement of Jesus does not apply, and that before a Mormon who has committed these sins can achieve the highest degree of salvation, he or she must personally atone for the sin by "hav[ing] their blood spilt upon the ground, that the smoke thereof might ascend to heaven as an offering for their sins". [ 1 ] Blood atonement was to be voluntary by the sinner, but was contemplated as being mandatory in a theoretical theocracy (seeTheodemocracy) planned for the Utah Territory; it was to be carried out with love and compassion for the sinner, not out of vengeance. [ 2 ] The concept was first taught in the mid-1850s by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) during the Mormon Reformation when Brigham Young governed the Utah Territory as a near-theocracy. [citation needed] Though there was discussion about implementing the doctrine, there is no evidence that it was ever practiced by the Mormon leadership in their capacity as leaders of both church and state. [ 3 ] There is some evidence, however, suggesting that the doctrine was enforced by some Mormon individuals. [ 4 ] Writers have also argued that the doctrine contributed to a culture of violence that, combined with paranoia from the Church's long history of being persecuted, incited the Mountain Meadows massacre. [ 5 ]
Very scary if you dig deeper into it. Is it a cult? I would shout an ecstatic YES! If you go to the XMormon sites and read the testimonials, as someone mentioned earlier, you could swear you were reading the stories of XJW people, or former Moonies, or former <cult> members' testimonials. The damage these high-control groups do to people's psyches is staggering and tragic.

The Death Penalty? What do you think?
by Country Girl ini, as most persons, think a sexual assault of a child is a very horrible thing.
like most parents, i would want to put the person to death that assaulted my child in that way, but is that just?
i'm two ways about it: i feel for the child, and the child's family; but at the same time i am wondering if it is deserving of death?

Now this has gotten all off topic. The question is: Do you think that someone should be executed if they sexually molest a child. I am not talking about touching a child indecently, but rape. I am not talking about a kid that is older, and perhaps understands, I am talking about little kids. Somehow that is more heinous. It's disgusting and most of us would shove that peron's nose up their ass. Do they deserve the death penalty?

I don't know, but when a person does bad things like that, they sentence their WHOLE FAMILY for their life. Especially if they are a close and loving family.
Lots of dudes on Death Row don't have anyone. They're going to die someday, and they have no one to talk to. Their family has left them. Actually, their family has no one to talk to. So what do you think of a person that wants to talk to them?

Just wondering why you posted this? Looking for other parrot people, or trying to raise dollars for the parrots?

OH Brother!...Reniaa and Country Girl,my little comment did not give license to turn this thread into a MUSHFEST of odd but happy marriages!....geeze back on topic...let hear some horror stories out there!!!!!........lol...................oompa
Well... my friend went out when she was a teenager with the guy who brought boy children to the "candy man" in houston in the 70's who subsequently raped and killed them. My best friend in the 80's was killed by gang members; another friend killed a girl in austin; what more do you want me to say? I'm a true crime fan... and alot of the true crime has happened in my backyard.
